Admiral Stephen Rochon talks about being recruited for the job as White House Chief Usher

After serving 36 years in the Coast Guard, Stephen Rochon was surprised to be recruited for the job of White House Chief Usher. He admits that when he received the first call from the White House to gauge his interest in the position, he didn’t even know what the duties were. Those duties, he found out, include overseeing historical restoration projects, cooking, and entertaining, among other things. He says that his biggest personal challenge is when he coordinates an event at the White House, he wants to look across the room and “see a smile on the president’s face.”
