Situated on the first floor of the West Wing, the Press Briefing Room was completed in 1970 and is above the swimming pool built for FDR. The room was named the James S. Brady Press Briefing Room in 2000 in honor of the press secretary injured in the Reagan assassination attempt. A massive renovation was completed in 2007.
