The day Lincoln died, his autopsy was held at noon in the White House in what is now the President's Dining Room (also called the Prince of Wales Room). Historian Anthony Pitch describes in great detail Lincoln's physical state and the anatomical damage discovered by the doctors performing the autopsy.
